One of the huge benefits that lacrosse organizations such as ours can benefit from through affiliation with US Lacrosse, the National Governing Body of Lacrosse, is the liability insurance that they provide. The sole requirement for that insurance, provided completely free of charge, is to ensure EVERY COACH AND PLAYER be registered members with US Lacrosse. A youth membership is only $25 and includes a partial subscription to Lacrosse magazine as well as a few other things. The adult membership is $50 and includes a full subscription to lacrosse as well as access to the coaching materials and many other training/coaching information sources.
I send this out now in case any of you are considering a Winter Lacrosse session with our organization or others - membership will probably be required. I sent an email about Winter options a while ago and that information is posted in the news section on our website (
www.brownsburglacrosse.com). The player's US Lacrosse Membership ID# will be a required piece of information for registration with BYL (coming soon...)

We will also be requiring all adult coaches within our organization to be at least Level 1 Certified Coaches by the end of the second season as coach but expect them to have completed the background check, level 1 online training course and the Positive Coaching Alliance workshop before beginning coaching.

The PCA workshop has a coupon code available online right now (don't even need to be a USL member for this)...
Fortunately the Level 1 and Level 2 Certification Instructional Clinics are being offered in the Indy area next year before the season starts. February 22nd (Level 1) and February 23rd (Level 2) in Carmel. I had to drive to Columbus. OH last year for Level 1 and our own Coach Doss is going to Louisville for Level 1 this Fall.

After commiting to your first year as a coach, BYL will pay for your future year US Lacrosse membership renewals.
